Yes. EVERY advance that humanity has made since we became intelligent beings aware of our own existence has been built on us acquiring knowledge. We were scientists before we ever knew it. From making fire, to understanding the seasons 1000’s of years ago, to the modern marvels of the internet, powered flight, knowledge of our place in the heavens, medical know-how, etc. etc. has been based on us understanding ourselves, the world in which we live and how we can influence it. Is there any part of your day that science doesn’t affect????

Very definitely. I think I would struggle to build a toaster from scratch, and all the things we use everyday are a product of science and engineering. I think my own subject of ecology and evolution makes me think more about things like recycling, climate change and being kind to animals on a daily basis.

Yes, every day…every minute…and every hour! Science has made possible almost everything we come into contact with. From the second we wake up (I probably wouldnt wake up without my alarm clock!) to the TV shows we watch before goign to bed, science has made inventions, and also helped us understand more about the world around us. Also – it gives us occasional exciting moments, like the other week when that guy Felix jumped out of a balloon from very very high up in the atmosphere! That was so cool, and was made possible by science.

Not to mention the fact that without science and the medicines it has been able to bring, there’d be a lot less people on Earth! I can’t imagine what we’d do without the incredible treatments for diseases, cancers, and more that make it possible for us to live longer lives than ever before.

Science is all around us and affects everyone’s everyday life. Every time you drink clean water from a tap, get medicines when you are sick, use electricity or even put on make-up, you are using science. Modern life is as we know it because of science. But science is about asking questions and thinking about them, and about trying to understand what a lot of people accept without thinking about. Because I am curious about the world, science helps me to ask questions and think about things, which makes my life a lot more interesting.

Science is everywhere 24×7! My modern lifestyle could be achieved without science. Electricity, heating, internet, cars are all there every day to remind me that science has a big role to play in my everyday life.
