      the melting point of gold is precisely 1064.18 °C!

      The melting point of gold at atmospheric pressure is ~1000 degrees Celsius. you should remember that materials melt at different temperatures depending on the pressure of the environment they are in. So, if you put gold under lots of pressure, it will melt at lower temperatures.

      This hapens for water too. if you go to the top of a mountain (say Mount Everest (8,800m)), atmospheric pressure if lower than it is at sea level (there’s less atmosphere pushing down on you). If you try to make tea up there it wouldn’t tastes so good… the water would boil at 69 degrees celcius (compared with 100c at sea level)

      Aggelos and Shane have it right! But I want to know…would you ever really want to melt gold?! I think it looks much better as jewelry 😉
